Other-Teacher Dress Code

This is an article that talks about creating a possible dress code for teachers in a West Virginia County. I found it interesting how many states and districts are becoming more and more concerned with the way teachers are dressed and having to address this issue. One would think that a teacher would know the appropriate way to to dress but apparently some are not so clear as to what is "professional attire." http://statejournal.com/story.cfm?func=viewstory&storyid=54701

Interesting article. It's not just teachers though. I use to wonder why different organizations and colleges would have Dress for Success or How to Dress for an Interview programs. I always thought that people had a basic idea on how to dress for interview and business purposes. I went to a couple of career fairs right after graduation, which all had a session that you could attend that catered to dress. Let's just say, now I see why. Men had on red and purple suites. Ladies had on extra mini, extra tight skirts. Even though the ad for the fair said come dressed to impress and bring several copies of your resume, people still had on jeans and came empty handed.

I agree. What are some people thinking? I don't know about the dress code though. Dress is a form of self expression as long as it is appropriate. Jennifer
